Most if not all of you will know about the cultural initiative that was launched within LOROS in 2018. It was called CREATE 2020 and aimed to firstly understanding more about the culture of the organisation and then strive to improve areas that were flagged as needing attention. At the time a survey was carried out by an external consultancy – who met over 170 people and gained feedback verbally and in written form.
12 work streams then emerged and the ‘Culture Champions’ team was created to help take action and embed any changes required or suggested.
Throughout 2019 and even in to early 2020 the work of CREATE continued, many of the work streams were rounded off after successfully fulfilling their purpose and those that remained are areas which might be seen as those never to be fully ‘completed’ as they are areas for constant focus.
As a brief reminder, the last full CREATE 2020 newsletter from December of last year can be read [Link text](/media/uploads/files/Coronavirus/create_2020_news_update_dec_2019_v4.pdf). It goes through progress against each work stream and also lists the culture champions at that time.
It is worth noting that since then we have agreed to round off the communications work and to say that this has been fully tested during the COVID pandemic would be an understatement!
It now feels like both time and circumstance has led us to the point at which we close the doors on CREATE 2020 and allow it to naturally transition in to the work of the new Staff Network. This will begin with immediate effect and the first meeting of the Network next week.
Culture remains absolutely fundamental to everything that we do and stand for – as has been said many time “It’s all around us all the time and involves all of us” I firmly believe that we are the culture and how we behave towards one another is the very basis of culture. This has been exemplified throughout the COVID pandemic where our teamwork, dedication and mutual support has been simply outstanding, something to be truly proud of.
Can I encourage you all to get behind the new Staff Network. We have the choice every day to be actively involved in creating the very best working environment but this requires personal effort and making that positive choice.
Thank you to all those who have been involved in CREATE 2020 both up front and in the background. It has had an impact as shown in the last newsletter.
