2024 walking trips

West Highland Way (now Full)
Friday 12th April – Sunday 21st April
The West Highland Way was Scotland's first long distance route and remains by far the most popular. Stretching for 151km from Milngavie on the edge of Glasgow to Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis, the route offers a fabulous introduction to the Scottish Highlands.

Taking place over 8 days it’s absolutely one for the bucket list visiting some incredibly remote areas.

Cleveland Way Extension
Wednesday 19th June – Sunday 23rd June
This is planned to be a 55 mile trek from Helmsley to Filey. On the Sunday return journey we will be visiting the Brampton Cliffs RSPB near Flamborough Head to hopefully see the puffins.

Cleveland Way is one of England’s original National Trails. Crossing the North York Moors National Park, boasting great vistas from sweeping heather moorlands. Upon reaching the coast at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, the second half of the route then follows the North Yorkshire coast as far as Filey, taking in the highest cliffs in eastern England at Boulby.

The cost to participate will be dependent on the numbers of walkers signing up and there will be an additional ask for sponsorship to raise money for LOROS also.

UK Three Peaks
Saturday 3rd August to Friday 9th August

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales. Many rush the journey trying to climb them all within 24hrs, but this challenge will offer you a more leisurely attempt over the course of a week, allowing time to properly visit each of the different areas whilst still reaching the top of these magnificent peaks.

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft) - twice the ascent of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, over a similar total walking distance. After travelling by minibus up to Fort William on Saturday, we will climb Ben Nevis on Sunday.  Monday we will travel to the Lake District, have a short walk & on Tuesday climb Scafell Pike. Wednesday travel to Snowdonia, have a short walk and on Thursday climb Snowdon. Friday will be the return travel to Leicester.

The cost to participate will be dependent on the numbers of walkers signing up and there will be an additional ask for sponsorship to raise money for LOROS also. The peaks climbed include:

  • Snowdon, in Wales (1085m)

  • Scafell Pike, in England (978m)

  • Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1345m)
