LOROS Thanksgiving service to stream on Mother's Day

Published on 12th March 2021

The next LOROS Thanksgiving and Remembrance service will be live on the charity’s YouTube and Facebook pages, on Mother's Day, Sunday 14th March at 7pm.

Normally these services are for the families of patients who have died at the Hospice. With coronavirus enforcing isolation upon everyone and with funerals being so limited, support is being extended to everyone who is bereaved.

Stephen Burnham, Spiritual Care Chaplain, said: “The services are part of our ongoing support to families. Many people whose loved ones have died here retain a fondness and connection to the Hospice. Holding services here helps both cherish the memories of loved ones and celebrate their lives. It’s our privilege to be part of that journey.”

To date LOROS streamed Thanksgiving Services have had thousands of views, so there seems to be a real need for people to come together in their loss at the moment.

Andrew Martin, Lead Chaplain said: “I think to be with others who know something of loss, who know what it’s like and what you’re going through, there’s comfort in shared experience. Ideally we’d be all together but, as that can’t happen, sharing those memories and connections with others whilst the service streams is still very comforting.”

Everyone is invited to join in, share their thoughts and pictures of loved ones, and hopefully take a little comfort from the readings, poems and prayers.

The order of service is available here which details the readings that will be used.
