Sileby SummerJam, organised by SPiced events UK, returned to the village in July but this year it was in its new venue just off Mill Lane and Mountsorrel Lane.

The event was graced with some of the top talents from around the Midlands with the likes of The Mocking Jays and Ska band Last Edition performing their own music to a jubilant audience.

Ed Sheeran even made an appearance on the night - well not the man himself but the next best thing - and Taylor Made from Birmingham performed an acoustic set in the beer tent to close the event.

Event organiser Stuart Price told the Echo: “Setting up from scratch in a field presented many more challenges to overcome than ever before but I feel the end result was well worth the additional effort and expense.

“It created a ‘proper’ festival, and I’ve had nothing but positive feedback so far.”

On top of providing a great day of music and fun for the community, the event raised funds for two deserving causes.

Combined with the takings at sister event WinterJam, held in March, a total of £2,080.27 has been raised.

The money is to be split between LOROS Hospice and Louise’s Gift of Time - which looks to provide funds pay for experimental immunotherapy treatment for Sileby mum Louise Gleadell, 37, who was told her cervical cancer was incurable.

With the “amazing success of this year”, plans are already well underway for next year’s event which is set to take place on the weekend of June 29, 2018.
