East Midlands Palliative Care Research & Audit

Anyone interested to learn more about what research. The key note session will be from the team at LOROS who have been funded by the NIHR to explore the experiences of people from BAME communities about thinking ahead about deterioration and dying.

In order to ensure that we will deliver training safely and to comply with safety measures under the COVID situation, we will be delivering some of our training sessions using our ECHO (Extension of Community Healthcare Outcomes) technology. ECHO is a recognised and secure teleconferencing method of delivery using ECHO Zoom software and will require delegates to click onto a link that will be sent to them via E-mail to attend the session. The only requirement that delegates will need is a device that has a camera and microphone such as a computer, laptop, iPad, iPhone or smart phone.

Syringe Driver in End of Life Care

This 40- 60 minute webinar which is fully funded for registered nurses working in care homes across LLR. An opportunity for a refresher for registered general nurses to practically consider the appropriate use of a 24 hour subcutaneous syringe driver (McKinley/CME T34) in palliative and end of life care.

An area that is both common and a predictor for admission into full time care, and presents a challenge for those in a caring role. Suitable for any health and social care staff with people living with dementia.

Dementia Friends is a national initiative from the Alzheimer’s Society. Its objectives are to make the nation more aware of dementia and improve attitudes towards the disease.

Having Conversations about Serious Illness: Intermediate Communication Skills Training

This half day workshop for registered nurses and nursing associates builds on foundation level communications skills and is designed to improve confidence and skills in communicating with patients and families about serious illness and dying. The interactive format of the session includes group work, videos and practice sessions with other delegates in a safe and supportive environment.

Masterclass - End of Life Care and Dementia

Fully funded by Health Education East Midlands and led by our Admiral Nurse Cathy Knight, this half day masterclass explores the complexities of dying with or from dementia suitable for all doctors, registered nurses, nursing associates and allied health professionals who regularly work with people dying with or from dementia. For example nursing home staff, ward and community nursing staff.
