Meet Rebecca. Rebecca’s grandparents and her dad were all cared for by LOROS. She says the support from the Hospice made all the difference to her and her family.
The care they received was so valuable it has motivated Rebecca to support LOROS in many ways; fundraising, helping our charity shops, as well as volunteering as a Lottery Collector.
By entering the LOROS Spring into Summer Raffle you’ve supported real families like Rebecca’s. We want to be here for those who really need us, 365 days a year.
Good luck and thank you!
"My experience of LOROS began in 1992 when my Grandma died at the Hospice. I was too young then to understand what LOROS was but came to know more when my Grandad also died here in 2005. I never really thought I’d experience LOROS again, but sadly, I did when my Dad was admitted to the Ward a few years ago.
"When you think of hospice care you think of dark depressing places, but LOROS is the total opposite. Those of you who have experienced the Hospice yourselves will know that from the moment you walk in, there seems an air of calm about the place. Nothing was too big an ask for the staff when my Dad was a patient. I remember being there one evening when a member of the kitchen team asked if they could get anything for Dad. He asked if there was any lemon meringue pie left from lunch that day. I don’t know anywhere else you would be presented with a huge slice of lemon meringue pie at about 9pm, just because it’s exactly what you fancied. It really is the little things that make such a huge difference here at LOROS.
"Dad was an inpatient on the Ward at LOROS for five weeks before he died. This was an incredibly difficult time for our family, but we are so thankful for the support of LOROS, and the care and compassion they showed, not only to Dad, but to our family as a whole. Money raised from the Spring into Summer Raffle will go directly to supporting the care services at LOROS, helping them to continue supporting patients and families, just like mine. I am so grateful to each and every one of you that purchases a ticket. It really will make such a huge difference to so many people."
