Double win for Foxes fan as she scoops £2,000 LOROS Lottery prize
It was a double celebration for lifelong Leicester City fan Olwen Simons when she scooped up last week’s LOROS Lottery first prize of £2,000.
The exciting news came just months after 67-year-old Olwen found herself victim of a scam that cost her nearly £7,000.
Olwen, of Oadby, said: “I never win anything, so this really cheered me up. “Hopefully it will help pay back some of the money I lost.”
The win also came five years after Olwen was diagnosed with breast cancer and having a hysterectomy and back problems has meant she hasn’t been able to go on holiday since. “I might treat myself and go on holiday with a friend,” she added.
Olwen has been playing the LOROS Lottery since August last year, after a promoter knocked on her door and asked her to join.
“I get requests all the time to support charities but when I found out the representative was from LOROS, I knew straight away I wanted to join,” she said.
“LOROS is a good charity and I’ve known people who have been at the Hospice too.
“The LOROS Lottery is very reasonable price, so I actually decided to have two numbers.”
