Following the unfortunate cancellation of last year’s event due to COVID-19, we’re coming back with a bang!

The world has been flipped upside down since our last Twilight Walk, and this year, we have taken the decision to offer you not one, but two ways to walk.

Option 1 - Walk in the city
Fasten your seatbelts for launch on 14th August 2021. Taking off this year from DMU Vijay Patel Square, together we will make our way to infinity and beyond! Along with star-quality entertainment en route, the 10km walk will be extra special this year, as we take you through our fabulous Rocket Round Leicester Art Trail so you can see our giant, multi-coloured Rockets up close.

To keep everyone safe we will be limiting ticket numbers, staggering the start times, and keeping all entertainment at a safe distance. You will be able to walk in groups, so we advise getting your bubble booked on as soon as possible so you can all complete your Twilight Walk in the same time slot. This year’s event is open to all ages, genders and aliens!

Option 2 - Walk anywhere, anytime
Complete the 10km Twilight Walk anywhere, anytime. You will get access to our exclusive Twilight Walk playlist, which, together with your out of this world t-shirt, will enable you to embrace the magic of the traditional Twilight Walk as you walk in your chosen location. With Option 2, you are free to make your virtual Twilight Walk completely your own, walking with whoever you want, wherever you want, whenever you want! Whether you are joining us in the city or are taking part closer to home, we hope to see as many aliens, astronauts, stormtroopers and superheroes out in force this August.

Information for participants

This year, it’s more important than ever to take part and fundraise for LOROS Hospice. The COVID-19 pandemic has hit us hard, and we are facing a £2.3 million loss in raised income across this financial year. It is vital that we raise funds through this event so we can future proof our hospice and continue to provide specialist care to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

That’s why this year, we’re asking every Twilight Walker to shoot for the stars and raise a valuable £50 in sponsorship for LOROS. Your £50 sponsorship will have a huge impact as it pays for 2 hours of specialist patient care. If you and every other walker go this extra mile, then together we will be able to raise enough money to fund more than six months of support for a terminally ill patient and their family. We will also enter everyone that raises £50 or more into a prize draw and there are some great prizes up for grabs.

Everyone that signs up will make a difference to our patients and their families. Just £10 could enable a struggling patient to be collected and brought to the Hospice, so we can give them the specialist care they need.

Ready for take-off? Sign up below to take advantage of the Early Bird deal of just £10 per person until 31st May 2021.

Once signed up, you will receive your Twilight Walk fundraising pack, which will be full of ways to help you hit your fundraising target.

COVID-19 Secure

We are working really hard to make sure that all our LOROS events go ahead safely in 2021, giving you both the peace of mind that any necessary precautions have been taken, as well as the confidence that your money is protected if you are unable to take part due to COVID-19.

Please note that practices may change as vaccines become more prevalent but currently for our Twilight Walk, this means:

  • We have pushed the event date back from April to 14th August 2021 in line with government guidelines.

  • Places for city walkers are limited to a maximum of 1,800 people to keep crowds to a minimum.

  • We will be operating staggered starts over the course of a few hours to maintain social distancing 300 people every half hour from 5pm-8pm.

  • We are asking participants to walk in bubbles of no more than six people and to socially distance if they are not members of the same household.
Face masks are required to be worn whilst waiting to start the event. They may be removed once you are safely walking in your groups of six.

  • We are recommending that participants arrive no more than 30 minutes before their start slot, and do not hang around once completing the event.

  • We will be focussing all of our usual amazing entertainment around the route itself rather than at the start/finish line to prevent crowds from building and so it can be enjoyed safely from a distance.

  • If for any reason the event cannot go ahead due to COVID-19, you will be given the option to claim a refund, However, we would appreciate you considering donating your entry fee to LOROS if this is the case. The same applies if you are asked to self-isolate or are unable to attend due to regional COVID-19 restrictions.

  • Hand sanitiser will be readily available at the start and finish line.
