PLEASE NOTE: Names received from 5pm on Thursday 5th December will not appear in the temporary book of Remembrance which will be available to view at the Light up a Life Service on Sunday 8th December. However, they will be included in the main book which will be available to view in the chapel at the Hospice from early 2020.
Remember a loved one and make a donation to the Light up a Life Appeal this Christmas.
Christmas at LOROS really is magical. When it’s Christmas Eve, the nurses turn into Santa’s little helpers, decorating the beds and bays, filling the stockings up with goodies for the children, who are visiting or staying over. We have Christmas trees up and decorations throughout the Hospice, even if patients are too poorly, the families can eat a Christmas dinner next to them, ensuring that they have spent the day with their loved one. This year our nurses need your donation to help make someone’s last Christmas as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
To celebrate and say thank you for your donation we will
• Mark your donation with a light on our Christmas Tree in memory of your loved one(s)
• Print the names of your loved one(s) in the Light up a Life Book of Remembrance which will be available to view at the Hospice
• Provide you with a LOROS memory star at the Light up a Life service to leave a message to a loved one on our memory tree
We wish to invite you to join us for a special Light up a Life service taking place on Sunday 8th December 2019 at 4.30pm in the hospice grounds, Groby Road, Leicester.
The service will last approximately 30 minutes and gives you and your family the opportunity to remember a loved one and see the switching on of the LOROS Christmas tree.
The lights will shine for our patients and their visiting families throughout the Christmas period. During the event stalls will be available selling hot refreshments, mince pies, Christmas gifts and seasonal decorations.
We will be operating a free park and ride system from County Hall, Glenfield, to and from the hospice. It is not possible to park at the Hospice for this event, nor will the roads leading to the Hospice be available for parking. The park and ride bus service will operate from 2.45pm in order to give you plenty of time to get to the event, with the last bus leaving for the hospice at 4pm.
PLEASE NOTE Disabled parking is available at County Hall. Disabled LOROS parking passes are not required.
Stars will be available at the event for you to leave a message to a loved one and hang on the memory tree, you can collect your star at the event from the LOROS Professional Development Centre.
Due to the ever-increasing cost of postage and requests from our supporters not to send out thank you letters, we have made the decision not to acknowledge donations of £10 or below. Please be assured that we still very much appreciate your support and would like to thank you for your very kind donation to the appeal.
