Hinckley LOROS shop celebrates 30 years serving the community

Published on 27th February 2020

Hinckley’s LOROS charity shop is celebrating its 30th birthday!

The shop, which opened in 1990, was one of LOROS’ first, selling donated clothing, accessories and bric-a-brac to raise funds to support the Hospice’s care of patients and their families.

Located on Castle Street in the same spot it has always been in, the shop’s 30th birthday is a testament to how well-loved and supported LOROS is by the local community.

Mary Lockhart, deputy retail manager said: “We are delighted that our shop has reached this significant milestone which, given the increasing number of charity shops on the high street, is really outstanding.

“We have a fantastic community of loyal customers and we’d like to thank them all for supporting us so well over the past 30 years.”

Ann Wells, the Hinckley LOROS shop manager, said: “It’s changed a bit over the years and of course the fashions have changed, but the people are just as warm and friendly.

“We’re very lucky to have two volunteers who have been with us since day one, which is a measure of how supportive the people of Hinckley are of LOROS. It’s lovely.”

The Hinckley LOROS shop will be holding a week of celebrations starting on Monday 2nd March with cakes, sweet treats and raffle prizes, culminating in a birthday tea party on Saturday 7th March with a 30% discount for its loyal customers.
