The Chief Executive of LOROS will be joined by a team of 17 as they take on two marathons back-to-back this weekend to raise money for the Hospice.

John Knight is among those running a total of 52 miles over Saturday and Sunday, as they take part in the Heineken Race to the Tower.

The route sees participants run along the Cotswold Way from Stroud, in Gloucestershire and finishing at The Broadway Tower, in Worcestershire.

“When I first came to LOROS, I pledged that I would take get involved in some sort of challenge every year to raise money for the Hospice,” said John.

“I’ve always set my sights on this particular event, so it’s a personal goal for me and when I sent out an email asking for people to join me, I was extremely pleased to get such a positive response back.”

The group will run a marathon on Saturday and then camp overnight before running another marathon the next day.

“It will be a tough challenge, especially as it’s not all on flat paths, some of it is up-hill and mostly off-road along the Cotswold Way,” added John.

“Some of those who are running with me haven’t camped before, let alone run a marathon. I’m extremely proud of how disciplined everyone has been, their training for this weekend has been outstanding.”

Various members of staff from the Hospice, including those from enablement, education and operations, to name but a few, will be joining John.

Mike Cummins, of Knights Plc, is also among those taking part.

The group are hoping to have raised more than £10,000 for LOROS.
