The match, which was a thrilling one night only event, took place at Knighton Park Table Tennis Club, Leicester and raised an amazing £2,000 from entry fees and a sell-out raffle. The amount was generously matched by the HSBC company match giving scheme, which means a total of £4,000 will be donated to the Groby Road Hospice.

Sixteen business teams went head-to-head in the fifth annual tournament, which since its launch in 2014, nearly £20,000 has been generated for the Hospice.

The eagerly-awaited event was organised by Graham Brown, Relationship Director at HSBC Bank plc Corporate and Richard Anderson, Agriculture Manager. The teams battling it out on the night were Spearing Waite, RSM, HSBC, Magma (two teams), Howes Percival, Mazars, Grant Thornton (two teams), KPMG, McIntyre’s, Gateley, BHW, Nelson’s, Newby Castleman and Weightmans/HSBC.

All sixteen teams fought hard to win the title, with the final game being battled out by Magma and Grant Thornton with Magma coming out victorious.

Roger Pratt, Area Director of HSBC East Midlands said: “We continue to be delighted with the support from the local professionals’ community for the 9th year of what has become a signature event in the calendar. We are even more pleased that to date we have been able to raise over £20,000 for such a worthwhile local cause.”

Magdalena Korytkowska, Partnership Development Lead at LOROS said: "This year’s HSBC Table Tennis tournament has been another fantastic fundraiser for the Hospice and judging by the atmosphere in the room it was competitive and great fun.

"Graham, Richard and the HSBC team continue to organise an event which many businesses jostle to be a part of each year and their commitment to raising funds for LOROS, along with the teams involved, is greatly appreciated by everyone at the Hospice. A huge thank you to everyone.”
