LOROS Accumulator Challenge 2018

Could you and your team compete with other local companies and businesses to become ‘The Ultimate Accumulator’ in this year’s Accumulator Challenge?

LOROS will provide you with £50 and all you need to do is use your awe-inspiring creative genius to outshine your neighbouring businesses, to turn it into more money and you’ll have three months to generate as much as you can, are you up for the challenge?

This year, massage therapist Lisa Todd, of Kirby Muxloe is planning on sketching her way to success with her ingenious idea of personalised postcards.

“I’ve been a fundraiser for a while now and I’m always on the lookout for something new. My friend’s grandma died at LOROS, so she’s been taking part in the Accumulator Challenge for around three years and has really enjoyed it.

“This year she’s really upping the stakes by splitting the £50 between 50 of us, so I’ll be starting with just one pound.

“I always tend to get carried away with these things, I have made dummy clips in the past for near to nothing. While trying to figure out what I was going to do this year, I spotted some postcards on my coffee table at home. I love to doodle and have made similar things for friends in the past, so I’m going to give that a go!”

Hoping to raise as much as possible, Lisa’s stick people family portraits will cost just 40 pence each to make. She’s generated lots of interest and is looking forward to pencilling a profit.

“If I can make just £50 from the postcards I will be really pleased. Word of mouth and the power of social media has encouraged lots of pre-orders, so I’m very excited.”

LOROS Partnership Development Lead Magdalena Korytkowska said: “What’s really great about the challenge is that anyone can take part, and you can be as wacky as you like.

“Last year was a huge success, the teams collectively helped raise a grand total of £23,536 for the Hospice, making a real difference to families that use our services. The innovative ideas that people come up with is just incredible, I’m really excited to see what they’ll think of this year.”

Previous clever ideas have consisted of ‘eat-a-thons’, themed breakfasts and even a ‘toilet roll tombola’ to name just a few.

At the end of the challenge, the participating groups will attend an awards evening to calculate the total amount of money raised and to hand out awards to those that have won a special accolade of achievement. Businesses big and small have the chance to bag themselves an award from these three categories – ‘Most Money Raised’, ‘Most Creative’ and ‘Most Engaging Challenge’.

The LOROS Accumulator Challenge is now in its fifth year, and has raised over £70,000 for the Hospice.

There’s still time to sign up so grab your team, get your thinking caps on, and take on the Accumulator Challenge.

Teams have from 14th March until 13th June to see how much they can turn £50 into. For more information visit loros.co.uk/accumulator, or call the LOROS Fundraising Department on (0116) 231 8431.
