Topics covered in the session include: • Benefits of effective communication • Evidence behind effective communication skills • Listening and responding skills • Using the SAGE & THYME model in a structured conversation • Supporting the person without having to solve their concerns • When SAGE & THYME is not the right tool to use The session aims to: • Increase staff confidence, competence and knowledge on how to talk about patient and carer’s concerns. • Increase retention of learning through the use of a clear structure and delegate packs. • Gain an opportunity to see the skills and structure demonstrated in a safe and supportive environment.

Suitable for

All levels of health and social care staff such as social workers, doctors, nurses, health care assistants, porters, receptionists, volunteers, care workers and anyone who may come into contact with patients and their relatives or carers.
