Topics covered include: • The five priorities for care of the dying person. • Differentiating between ‘end of life care’ and ‘palliative care’ • Recognising when someone is approaching the end of life • The importance of advance care planning and shared decision making The session aims to: • Increase understanding of the importance of communication skills to provide individualised care with a focus on sensitivity and compassion • Increase knowledge of practical skills for caring for a person in the last days of life • Increase confidence to recognise when someone is dying.
