Gaynor Adcock, 50, of Evington, took part in last year’s Twilight Walk after her dad, Roger, died at LOROS in 2015 following a short battle with lung cancer.

Gaynor and her family (pictured below), who walked the event with her, were some of our highest fundraisers after collectively raising almost £1,200.

“LOROS is such a lovely place and although we were there for dad’s final days, it was as good an experience as it could’ve been and that is why we wanted to do it,” she said.

“I asked people from work to sponsor me, as well as people who new dad.

“I also shared my good experience of LOROS, which encouraged people to donate and plus, so many people know of the Hospice themselves or wanted to donate to a local charity.

“I’m very proud of the amount we raised, it really was quite incredible.”

Gaynor’s top three tips for fundraising are:

• Encourage others to walk with you. Not only is it great fun to take part with your family and friends but you can all fundraise together, as a group.

• Make sure you fundraise through JustGiving too. Having an accessible online page makes it easier for people to donate, especially if they don’t live nearby. It's also a really easy way of sharing your story with your friends and family over social media.

• Ask as many people as possible to donate, even if it’s just a small amount because remember, every little counts!.
