LOROS is desperately urging people to volunteer at this year’s Twilight Walk on Saturday.

The Hospice is in need of a few more pairs of hands to help out at this year’s annual 10km event.

With a record amount of nearly 2,000 women expected to take part on the night, LOROS need to recruit as many volunteers as possible to ensure the event runs both smoothly and successfully.

LOROS event co-ordinator Laura Fitzsawyer said: “The sign-up response for this year’s Twilight Walk has been absolutely phenomenal and with more women taking part than ever before, we need more hands on deck to help out on the night.

“So, if you’re taking part, then please encourage the men in your life to not stay at home and instead, come along and marshal the route.

“Also, ladies, for those of you who wanted to be part of the event but aren’t able to take part, why not experience what will be a fantastic night by signing up to volunteer?”

Last year, the event raised more than £50,000 for LOROS, which is enough to pay for 80 days of complementary therapy for patients, families and carers.

Alan Law, of Thurmaston, who regularly volunteers at the event said: “I like to help out at as many LOROS events as I can and the Hospice’s annual Twilight Walk is definitely up there, as being one of the best to volunteer at.

“It’s a great laugh and lots of fun, cheering on the participants as they walk through the city centre.

“The Twilight Walk has such a buzzing atmosphere, everyone is in such high spirits and you can feel the energy throughout the whole route.

“It really is great to be part of the event and feel like you’re helping raise money for such a worthwhile cause.

“I would urge anyone who is free on Saturday night to get involved.”

Volunteers will need to be free from 5pm until approximately 11pm and can sign-up to help out in groups or individually.
