The Greetham Valley Seniors have well over thirty matches in a season and this year's Seniors Captain Radley Wardhaugh, decided to sell raffle tickets at each one to their opponents as well as his own team.

The prize was a set of Ping G30 irons fitted for the winner of the raffle at the end of the season. The lucky winner was Rob Elliott from Rutland County golf club. Rob said that he was overwhelmed as "he had never won anything before".

Greetham Pro Neil Curtis set the clubs up for Rob to complete the prize. Radley gave very sincere thanks to the Greetham members and all of their opponents this year for their generosity. He said that he wanted to do something for the local community and LOROS was his first choice.

The proceeds of the raffle will go to LOROS, the Hospice who have over 2500 people on their books receiving palliative care in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland. With a budget of approximately seven and a half million they receive only a third from the NHS, the other £4.5 million they have to find by fundraising.

Adrian Walker, pictured on the right is a senior fundraiser for LOROS said that the £600.00 raised by Radley and his merry men will go towards the pot that they need to find each and every year to continue their vital work.

He went on to say that LOROS specialises in care for people over eighteen with complex problems where a cure is no longer possible. They also offer short stay inpatient care for symptom management and respite. Palliative care day therapy and home outreach are just two other things that they strive to do with limited resources.
