LOROS (the Leicestershire and Rutland Organisation for the Relief of Suffering) is a local charity providing care and support within Leicestershire and Rutland.
LOROS charges no fees for its services, which are available to all local people regardless of their race or creed. The Charity relies upon the generosity and support of individual people, organisations and groups as well as Trusts and the business communitiy of Leicestershire and Rutland in order to continue to fund the service.
The Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice is a specialist centre providing skilled nursing and medical care, supported by physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social workers, in an environment that recognises the particular needs of patients and their families. It provides expertise in controlling pain and other distressing symptoms as well as offering emotional, spiritual and social care, which allows patients to live as normal a life as possible. Working with the whole family enables both the patient and the family to cope with the changing situation so that they are able to make best use of the limited time together available to them. LOROS treats patients from the age of eighteen years and upwards.
What kind of treatment is available at the Hospice?
The hospice has 31 in-patient beds. These are arranged in bays together with a number of separate single rooms. The ward bays provide single sex accommodation.

LOROS is regulated by the Charity Commission for England and Wales and under its rules is legally required to complete, sign and submit a Summary Information Return (SIR) annually. A copy of the most recent SIR can be view here. LOROS is also accredited by the Healthcare Commission. The latest inspection reports for both the hospice and Manor Croft Palliative Day Therapy Unit can be viewed and downloaded from the Commission.
