Staff at the Goals Soccer Centre, in Crown Hills, Leicester, are hosting the event to help boost our campaign for the hospice. Youngsters will be able to test out their football skills in a penalty shoot-out competition and a cross-bar challenge. There will also be rounders, kwik cricket and other sports tournaments, as well a bouncy castle, cheerleading sessions, a car wash and a raffle at the event on Sunday.

Goals assistant manager Mel Pierce said: "We have done a few things to help raise money for LOROS before so we decided to do this to help the LOROS appeal. "We want to open it up to as many people as possible. We've been organising it for a few months now so hopefully it will be a really good day. We're all really looking forward to it."

More than 200 people are expected to attend the fundraiser, which is the latest in a series of events for our appeal. Other activities include face painting, arts and crafts activities and a fire engine tour.

LOROS corporate fund-raiser Marisa Spiteri said: "It's great that Goals have chosen to raise funds for LOROS and open up their superb facility for the public to use. It's going to be a really fun-day that hopefully raises much-needed funds."

The Leicester Mercury LOROS Appeal aims to raise £360,000 towards the cost of a £2 million extension at the hospice and has so far collected more than £200,000.

Entry to the Goals family fun day is £2 for adults, £1 for children, or £5 for a family of two adults and two children.
