LOROS are thrilled to announce that after a year of building, their new 11 single patient room extension is now open. Patients were admitted week commencing 5th October 2009 to the fabulous new amenities, with all rooms having an en-suite facilities. Major donors to the new building came to see the new extension on Thursday 24th September and Tuesday 29th September. Staff, volunteers and families had tours during the week commencing 25th September, prior to patient admittance.
Milan Mandaric (LCFC Chairman), Nigel Pearson (LCFC Manager) and Alan Birchenall (former LCFC Legend and LOROS Patron) have visited LOROS to see the new extension and the outside walkway named “Filbert Way”, which has been named to mark the partnership between LOROS and LCFC throughout the 2009/10 season. Diane Morris, LOROS Fundraising Manager, said “We thought to name a walkway after the partnership would be a tremendous way to commemorate the fact that LCFC have chosen LOROS to be their supported Charity in the season that marks the 125th Anniversary of LCFC and the 25th Anniversary of LOROS (2010). We are extremely grateful to LCFC for their support and the walkway leads to pavers that have been laid and named by supporters of LOROS. Pavers can still be purchased at a price of £350, and laid in this area that will be beautiful once the new planting has become established. LOROS were particularly pleased to welcome Milan Mandaric, Nigel Pearson and Alan Birchenall to view the amazing services that LOROS provides to 2,500 patients and their families each year who live in Leicestershire and Rutland.”
Milan Mandaric quoted “I’m a happy person because I can see what good is being done here. I’m very proud that as a club we can give our support. We’ll do everything humanly possible to get stronger support because it is something everyone should be proud of. The staff are so friendly and bubbly, this organisation deserves a lot of credit and recognition."
Pat Nutting, who recently donated £50,000 in her husband Mick's memory, has also visited the hospice to the view the room named for him.
