LOROS are thrilled to announce that after a year of building, their new 11 single patient room extension is now open. Patients were admitted week commencing 5th October 2009 to the fabulous new amenities, with all rooms having an en-suite facilities. Major donors to the new building came to see the new extension on Thursday 24th September and Tuesday 29th September. Staff, volunteers and families had tours during the week commencing 25th September, prior to patient admittance.
Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Gloucester visited LOROS on Wednesday 17th March 2010 to officially open the new Willow Wing extension. The Duchess had a tour around the Hospice, speaking to staff and volunteers from each department and meeting patients, before unveiling a plaque to mark the opening of the wing.
LOROS still has £250,000 to raise for the new extension and would welcome any support that the local community can afford towards the purchase. There are still several naming opportunities available and Diane Morris would be happy to discuss these. A silver charm has also been designed for bracelets, handbags or mobile phones and can be purchased from LOROS Hospice or any of their 19 shops for £10. Alternatively, hold a fundraising event, to raise funds for this fantastic new building. Friends and relatives of patients who were cared for at LOROS can donate money to the project to have a paving slab in the new courtyard engraved in memory of a loved-one.
