SAWUBONA (We See You): Promoting Equity through research in Palliative Care Conference

Recent global events including Windrush scandal, Black Lives Matter movement, and the COVID-19 pandemic have highlighted injustices present for UK minority ethnic communities. Equity has been prioritised in the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) 2023 'Area of Research Interest'. Despite an emphasis on fair access to care for all as outlined in the 'Ambitions for Palliative and End of Life Care' report, the delivery of care and support to minority ethnic individuals living with long-term or life-threatening conditions and those that are bereaved is not equitable.

In this one-day virtual conference the national SAWUBONA- Equity in Palliative Care for all Research Forum members in partnership with Hospice UK and Good Grief Festival, will showcase and debate the work currently being undertaken in tackling inequity in palliative care through research and the ways forward. This conference is suitable for academics, clinicians, early career researchers, post-graduate students, and anyone interested in equity in palliative care and bereavement support.
